Paula Verona has been living and working in Taos, New Mexico since 1992. Prior to moving to Taos, she exhibited extensively in galleries and museums on the East Coast and has had several solo exhibitions in New York City.
Verona is represented in public and private collections in the USA and abroad.
Verona holds a B. A. degree from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. She has completed additional studies in Indian Art and Architecture at Mysore University, Mysore, India and most recently, the University of New Mexico, Taos, NM.
Verona has traveled extensively throughout the world. Her work is a composite of impressions, memories and experiences of her travels often combining Asian and Indian artistic and philosophical influences. Her artist’s awareness of nature, the cosmos and the spiritual are reflected in her most recent paintings.
Abstract forms and rhythms interweave the scientific analysis of physics with the intuitive mysticism of eastern art and philosophy. Her paintings incorporate texture, sacred geometric spaces and architectonic forms, often incorporating found objects into the paintings.
In 1997, Verona received the Best of Show award for her work in a Taos invitational exhibition entitled, “No Boundaries, No Barriers”. In 1998 she was selected by David Witt, former curator of the Harwood Museum of Art as part of a group of 14 artists forming “The Next Generation” of Taos artists.
Paula Verona’s work can be seen at the Verona Studio Gallery at 502 Camino Cortez, Taos, New Mexico.
